South Africa’s Romanda Hombir Named Miss World Africa 2026

South Africa has another reason to celebrate on the international pageant stage after Romanda Hombir was crowned Miss World Africa 2026.

The 27-year-old clinical audiologist represented South Africa at the 73rd Miss World competition held in Nha Trang, Vietnam, where she finished among the final six contestants.

Her strong performance throughout the competition secured her the continental title and placed her among the standout African representatives at this year’s event.

A Strong Run Through the Competition

Hombir showed consistency from the early stages of the pageant.

She gained momentum after winning the African continental Head-to-Head Challenge, which helped establish her as one of the leading contestants from the region.

From there, she advanced through several elimination rounds, moving into the Top 20, then the Top 12 and eventually securing a place in the final six.

Reaching that stage placed her among the strongest contestants in the global competition and marked an important achievement for South Africa.

More Than a Beauty Queen

Outside pageantry, Hombir has built a professional career in healthcare.

She works as a clinical audiologist and has also been involved in community-focused projects centred on health, education and social support.

She is the founder and strategic director of Caring Purpose, a nonprofit organisation that works with vulnerable communities.

Through the organisation, she has supported initiatives involving health screenings, literacy programmes, food assistance and life-skills development.

Hombir was not the only African contestant to make an impression during the competition.

Snit Habteab Tewoldemedhin of Eritrea also reached the final six, giving Eritrea a strong debut appearance at Miss World.

The 27-year-old neuroscience graduate and educator attracted significant public support during the competition and reportedly received millions of votes in the global fan poll.

Her performance, alongside Hombir's, gave Africa a strong presence in the final stages of the pageant.
