Oyo and Ogun Principals Begin Digital Leadership Training Under Obasanjo Institute

Secondary school principals from Oyo and Ogun states have commenced a strategic leadership training programme focused on digital literacy, cybersecurity, and 21st-century school management.

The programme, launched by the Olusegun Obasanjo Leadership Institute (OOLI), is part of its Advanced Certificate in School Leadership and Management and aims to empower principals and vice principals with the tools needed to navigate modern educational challenges.

According to Professor Emeritus Peter Okebukola, Chairman of the OOLI Special Management Advisory Group, the curriculum was developed using international best practices.

> “We first identified the training needs of the principals before crafting the content. This ensures that the training is not generic but tailored to real demands,” he explained.

He extended appreciation to the Governors of Oyo and Ogun States for sponsoring the educators, praising their commitment to improving educational leadership.

During the orientation, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, founder of OOLI, emphasized the importance of strong leadership in shaping students’ morals, discipline, and life skills.

> “Principals carry the extraordinary responsibility of moulding future leaders. This training will equip you to lead with purpose and excellence,” Obasanjo remarked.

General Martin Luther Agwai (rtd.), Director of OOLI, highlighted the broader mission of the programme:

> “Today’s principals must be strategic thinkers—managing school governance, ensuring safety, fostering inclusive learning, and promoting innovation.”

The nine-week training also features contributions from distinguished education experts, including:
