Ile-Ife Unveils 5km Cultural Road Race to Empower Youth and Preserve Heritage

In a vibrant fusion of sports, tradition, and youth development, Ile-Ife is set to host its maiden 5km Cultural Road Race on September 25 during the iconic Olojo Festival.

The race, envisioned by Sooko Adeleke Odewade, aims to discover and nurture emerging athletic talents, promote healthy lifestyles, and preserve the rich Yoruba cultural heritage.

“This race is more than just a competition—it’s a platform for grooming future champions,” Odewade said. “Through mentorship, coaching, and post-race support, we hope to build world-class athletes and role models that will inspire generations.”

Endorsed by His Imperial Majesty, Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, and organized in partnership with the Alade’fa Athletic Family Initiative, the event welcomes youths, amateur runners, and professional athletes.
