CNS Urges Discipline as Nigerian Armed Forces Resettlement Centre Graduates 576

The Nigerian Armed Forces Resettlement Centre (NAFRC) has graduated 576 retiring military personnel from Course 2/2025, reaffirming its commitment to supporting a smooth transition from military to civilian life.

The graduation ceremony, held on Friday, December 12, 2025, featured the Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, who was represented by the Flag Officer Commanding Western Naval Command, Rear Admiral Abubakar Mustapha.

Addressing the graduates, Rear Admiral Mustapha praised their years of dedication and sacrifice to the nation, urging them to uphold discipline and apply the vocational and entrepreneurial skills acquired during the programme.

«“Today, we honour your courage, sacrifice, and commitment to our nation. As you embark on this new chapter, discipline and prudent management of your resources are essential for success in civilian life,” he said.»

He cautioned the retirees against risky financial ventures, emphasizing the importance of adaptability, self-discipline, and responsible decision-making as they reintegrate into society.

The Commandant of NAFRC, Air Vice Marshal Bashir Mamman, highlighted recent upgrades at the Centre, including improved accommodation facilities, solar-powered street lighting, and an enhanced e-learning platform. He also expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for sustained government support.

«“Since its inception, the Resettlement Centre has trained over 54,000 personnel, equipping them with skills necessary for self-sustenance and community development,” Mamman said.

Out of 629 enlisted retirees, including 26 females, 576 successfully completed the comprehensive programme, which covers entrepreneurship, vocational trades, and financial management.

The ceremony also recognized the critical role played by families in supporting military personnel throughout their service years. Armed Forces leadership reassured attendees of its continued focus on welfare and professional development for both serving and retired personnel.

Graduates were encouraged to remain active in their communities, support local security initiatives, and serve as ambassadors of integrity, patriotism, and national unity.

Despite funding challenges, the Nigerian Armed Forces Resettlement Centre continues to expand its training offerings, including agriculture, waste management, and renewable energy, through strategic partnerships with government agencies. Ongoing projects also target widows, orphans, and youths connected to military families.
