Badaru Inaugurates NAF Headquarters Annex, Hails Air Force’s Institutional Excellence

The Minister of Defence, Alhaji Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, has inaugurated the newly completed Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Headquarters Annex located in Gudu, Abuja, describing it as a phenomenal milestone in the history of the service.

Speaking during the ceremony on Monday, Badaru lauded the project as a testament to NAF’s commitment to institutional growth, operational excellence, and strategic foresight.

He noted that the new complex demonstrates the Air Force’s resilience in addressing its expanding administrative and operational responsibilities driven by Nigeria’s dynamic security landscape.

> “This complex reflects the Nigerian Air Force’s commitment to operational excellence, strategic foresight, and institutional consolidation,” Badaru stated. “It aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritizes security, welfare, and infrastructure as pillars of national stability.”

The minister praised the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, for his visionary leadership and prudent resource management, urging officers who would occupy the facility to maintain it with discipline and professionalism.

In his remarks, Air Marshal Abubakar explained that the four-storey building was originally conceived as a hotel but was later acquired, remodeled, and completed within one year by NAF engineers and works personnel.

He revealed that the project reflects his command philosophy — transforming the NAF into an agile and resilient force through improved welfare, infrastructural renewal, and effective resource utilization.

> “Over 574 infrastructural projects have been initiated across NAF formations, with 412 completed and 162 ongoing,” Abubakar said. “Each one aims to enhance morale, efficiency, and readiness.”

Earlier, the Chief of Administration, NAF, AVM Idi Sani, stated that the new facility was designed to decongest the main headquarters in Garki, enhancing synergy and administrative productivity.

He added that beyond its physical structure, the complex stands as a symbol of NAF’s enduring commitment to excellence and service to the nation.

The inauguration ceremony drew the attendance of the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, senior military officers, retired Service Chiefs, members of the National Assembly, and other dignitaries.
